From the Cave You Came

From the cave You came to us, David’s descendent, of the Holy Ghost.

An angel appeared, “Joseph, she’s with holy child; Immanuel’s here!”

The magi saw Your star, it guided them to You bearing precious gifts.

From the cave You came to us; the way was prepared by Your messenger.

John the Baptist preached, a voice in the wilderness: “Repent, be baptized!

“A man greater than I, a mere unworthy slave, will baptize with fire!”

From the cave You came to us; Gabriel heralds hope for tomorrow.

Holy Mary sang, “My spirit praises the Lord, my soul rejoices!”

Angels and stars lit the way, shepherds and kings haste to worship You, Christ.

From the cave You came to us; both the Word with God and the Word of God.

All in all; through Him You created everything in the beginning.

Your Word gave life to all the creation. Your Life brought eternal Light.

The Word became flesh full of grace and truth; we became Your redeemed heirs.

Risen Messiah, the cave could not contain You.
