Caught In The Quagmire

Have you ever found yourself in a rough and difficult position? Has the grind of living in the current world taken its toll on you spiritually? Have the problems of life bogged you down? Are you crying from within, “Help! Help!” and are you looking for a way out?

In the natural, a quagmire is soft, wet land, yielding under the feet; a bog. Figuratively speaking, it’s a difficult position. Your shoes get caked and add weight. The mire under foot makes traveling tough.

In life, we get into quagmires – places where everything is painful and difficult – we’re barely making it. Problems grow and multiply, their weight drags us down. We look for a way out. Depression, fear and worry sets in and the faith to move on is perched on the brink. There are many sleepless nights and you find yourself developing personal ailments within your body due to the problems weighing you down.

Well, I want to tell you that God is the answer. The Psalmist reminded us in plenty of Scriptures about the help of the Lord. He said God delivered him from his enemies in Psalm 18:48, delivered him from all his fears in Psalm 34:4, and also said, “This poor man cried and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of his troubles” in Psalm 34:6. We find our help and deliverance in God. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1) He is the source of all spiritual freedom and life.

Hear David again, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped.” (Psalm 28:7) Yes, when you learn to trust and have faith in God, your help comes. Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must first believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Man or woman – you can get out of your quagmire situation. There is help for your life’s spiritual dilemma. Jesus is the way. He can clear the way for you and place your feet on an even and smooth plateau.

Are you caught in a quagmire of sin and despair? Are you bound by drugs and alcohol? Do you feel weighted down by your particular crisis? Whatever situation you’re in, I’m here to tell you there is yet hope for a better tomorrow.

Where do you begin? You begin in prayer, talking with the Lord; saying, “God, I’m here and I want to give myself to You. Lord, I realize that You are my only hope and salvation in this life. I am nothing without You, God. You are my lifeline.”

God has an extended hand. All you have to do is grab hold and let Him lead you out of your quagmire. Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30) Believe His Word and cry out unto Him.

Let us put our trust in Him who said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” (John 14:6) May you be blessed in knowing that the quagmire of your life no longer has to be. God almighty can place your feet on solid ground. Then you can enjoy the benefits of the life provided for us through Jesus Christ. Thank You, Jesus, for Your direction, help and deliverance.
