Just Doing My Thang!

ImageOne day my mom asked me to do the dishes – and I absolutely hate doing the dishes! I don’t know why, but for some reason I just don’t like dirty dish water. And my mom knows I hate doing dishes but she asked me to do them anyway.

Melody of Time

Though words alone will fade from time,
The essence still remains;
Of life, of love, of living flame
The melody proclaims.

The wonder of a little child;
God born into this world.
Creator joined with His design,
His glory now unfurled.
He lit the flame upon this earth,
It burns within the soul.
It spreads among the multitude,
It purges and makes whole.

The mercy of a Savior King
Who gave His very heart
To ransom love – His failing bride -
That tore the two apart.
It may be counted foolish
To leave yourself so bared;
But if you wouldn’t fight and die,
You never really cared.

Though words alone will fade from time,
The essence still remains;
Of life, of love, of living flame
The melody proclaims.

The Dead-end of Shame

When we travel along the roads and highways in our city, it?s inevitable that we?ll face obstacles to steer around, detours to take and bumps to endure. But occasionally there are also those times when the road seems to end, and there?s no way through.

Just as we face dead-ends on the road, we also experience them in life. One of the most crippling dead-ends that we?ll face during our journey through life is that of SHAME.

The Sifting Process

The disciples had been striving over who was going to be chief among them. James said, _”where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.”_ (James 3:16) So Satan moved into the scenario of the last supper and began stirring the soup that was already simmering. Judas was the weak link, the susceptible one… Nathaniel wasn’t an option – in him there was no guile. John wasn’t an option – he was always hanging on to Jesus. But Peter seemed like a possibility so Satan asked for permission to sift him. Jesus said, _”I have prayed for you [Peter,] that your faith fail not – and when thou are converted, strengthen your brethren.”_

Before the sifting was finished, Peter was shaken to the core! But when Jesus was finished, Peter preached at Pentecost! Between Jesus’ prayer and Pentecost there was the last supper, Gethsemane, the betrayal, the trial, the denial, the Crucifixion, three days of shame and misery, the Resurrection and forty days of infallible proofs, the Ascension and 7-10 days in the upper room waiting…

Then came the rushing mighty wind… and the sermon that changed history!

God uses your sifting process to bring you to fruitfulness – and when all is said and done – He gets all the glory!

Borrowed Clothes

All of the armor we wear is the Armor of God. It’s not ours, but we need to put it on. His helmet of Salvation covers our head. His righteousness covers our chest. His Faith delivered is our shield. All of our clothes are His clothes! We need to be clothed in His righteousness. Our shoes are His shoes – His gospel of Peace. Even the garment of praise we put on belongs to Him! Jesus alone is worthy of praise. We might be proud that we’re humble but all our righteousness is as filthy rags. He clothes the meek with humility.

If we only knew how much we need Him and how much His provision is for us. Let us apply His eye salve and see His great army surrounding us. Let us take His balm, His leaves for the healing of the nations. Let us not be clothed with our own leaves or garment as were Adam and Eve.

Maybe that’s why He said you don’t need two coats – because His clothing is all we need. There is no substitute or backup plan. Truly Jesus is all I need!

Name-Brand Salvation

Generic is the word for those who economize today;
For the non-discriminating, I guess that it’s okay.
Maybe in the supermarket just any brand works for you,
But when it comes to my salvation,
Generic just won’t do!

Give me that Name-brand salvation,
It’s Jesus’ Name for me!
The Name above all others is the Name that set me free.
His Name is my strong tower,
And I want the world to know,
I’m not ashamed of Jesus’ Name, it’s branded on my soul!

The Word of God was sharp,
Just like a sword it pierced them through.
They cried out, “We have slain the Christ,
Oh now what shall we do?”
Then Peter standing with the twelve,
In one accord proclaimed:
“Repent of all your sins and be baptized in Jesus’ Name!”

This “New Age” on the scene today, it really isn’t new;
With altered states of consciousness,
And enlightenment for you.
These “spirit guides” and “channelers,”
They’re really all the same:
They’re demons from the pits of hell,
And they tremble at His Name!

There’s a Name that chases devils
And causes them to flee;
There’s a Name that gives deliverance,
And sets the captives free;
There’s a Name that brings salvation,
The Bible makes it plain.
Just in case you haven’t heard – Jesus is that Name!

The Way God Works

The way God works The sequence of God’s creation is an interesting thing to ponder. To consider the process He works within to bring about his purpose. There seems to be a universal law of ?process? that God has confined Himself to.

He first creates a void, a vessel, a vacuum and then fills it with his unfolding plan. In creating the Heaven and the earth, notice the progression…

The Road Map

He will lead
He will guide
In the Word of God
I will abide
A road map placed
Here in my hand
Guiding me through
Dark and dismal land
Though the hills may be high
Though the valleys may be deep
The way grows clearer
My way he will keep
Nearer, nearer to Canaan’s fair land
Following Him with the Road Map in my hand
